Using a CT Angiography Artificial Intelligence Carotid Plaque Morphology Model to Predict Stroke

چکیده
The gold standard for determining carotid artery stenosis is to calculate using the North American Symptomatic Carotid Endarterectomy Trial criteria and ultimately plan medical vs surgical management based on percent symptomatic status. Few studies have assessed plaque morphology as an additive tool stroke prediction. Our study uses artificial intelligence software in conjunction with a patient's computed tomography (CT) scan of neck create three-dimensional (3D) model assess including calcification, intraplaque hemorrhage, matrix, perivascular adipose tissue. goal was predictive inclusive morphology. This retrospective review single tertiary institution from 2010 2021. Patients CT angiography head/neck diagnosis were included our analysis. Each run through third-party 3D image visibility We used stepwise backward regression select variables inclusion prediction models. Carotid plaque morphology and risk for stroke.
The importance of carotid artery atherosclerosis in the pathogenesis of cerebral ischemia and infarction has been recognized for many years. As early as 1856, Savory pointed out this relationship, and in 1904 Chiari suggested the possibility of cerebral emboli originating from the cervical portion of the carotid artery. The concept was further popularized by Fisher's clinicopathologic reports o...
متن کاملDetection of Symptomatic Carotid Plaque Using Source Data from MR and CT Angiography: A Correlative Study.
BACKGROUND Carotid plaque MRI has been a useful method to characterize vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque elements. Recent investigations have suggested that source images from CT angiography (CTA) and MR angiography (MRA) can identify the simple high-risk features of symptom-producing carotid artery plaque. We studied the correlation and relative diagnostic accuracies of CTA and MRA source imag...
متن کاملUsing emotional intelligence to predict job stress: Artificial neural network and regression models
Introduction: These days, there is a consensus that emotional intelligence plays an important role in the success of individuals in different areas of life. Persons with higher emotional intelligence had lower stress in dealing with demands and pressures in the workplace. The purpose of this study was to use artificial neural network to predict job stress and to compare the performance of this ...
متن کاملAssociation between carotid artery plaque ulceration and plaque composition evaluated with multidetector CT angiography.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Symptomatic carotid artery plaque ulceration is associated with distinct plaque components such as a large lipid-rich necrotic core (LR-NC) in ischemic stroke patients with a ≥50% carotid stenosis. We evaluated the associations between carotid artery plaque ulceration and plaque characteristics in ischemic stroke patients with ≥50% stenosis, as well as in those with a low...
متن کاملCarotid plaque enhancement and symptom correlations: an evaluation by using multidetector row CT angiography.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The identification of plaque characteristics that determine its vulnerability is extremely important. The purpose of this work was to evaluate CPE after administration of contrast material and to assess whether there is a statistical association between CPE and cerebrovascular symptoms. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ninety-seven consecutive patients (69 men, 28 women; mean age,...
